Overcoming Obstacles to U.S. Citizenship
Certain factors may result in the rejection of your citizenship application. A criminal conviction in your home country or in the U.S., for example, may be an obstacle even if the crime was years ago. Henning Law can evaluate these or other potential obstacles to U.S. citizenship. We may be able to help you resolve the matter in your favor, or refer you to another attorney who can help you.
Retaining Your Foreign Citizenship
Henning Law can also advise you regarding the retention of your foreign citizenship.
While the United States usually has no objection to maintaining a foreign citizenship, your application for Naturalization as a U.S. citizen and the swearing of the oath of allegiance to the U.S. constitution may have an effect on your existing citizenship. Germans, for example, lose German citizenship through this process unless they apply to the German authorities to retain their citizenship.
Henning Law can advise you in these and other issues relating to dual citizenship status.
